The floor plans and construction drawings are what sold me — you can actually trace how the steel frame went up instead of just looking at pretty finished shots. It's a Phaidon book, so the paper and binding feel substantial, and it sits flat when it's open.

The archival photos of the Pacific Palisades house finally made the Eameses' steel-and-glass thinking click for me, and the essays on their prefab experiments are genuinely readable, not academic sludge. Phaidon's print quality is outstanding too — the paper stock feels substantial.

I didn't expect a design book to make me rethink how a floor plan solves a problem, but the early sketches alongside the finished houses do exactly that. The paper stock is heavy enough that the foldouts don't fight you, which matters for a book this size.
