The photos of those woods-and-dunes houses are what sold me, and the book delivers on that — page after page of quiet Bauhaus-influenced cottages I'd never seen before. It's a coffee-table book, but I actually read the essays.
I bought this after a trip to the Outer Cape and the section on the Bauhaus designers' dune houses sent me down a rabbit hole for a week. The writing holds up, though a couple of the floor plans are printed small enough that I had to squint.
Didn't expect the photos of those weathered shingle houses to hit me so hard, but they're the best part. The captions on the Gropius years tie everything together without getting academic about it.
