The Paperback Writers series takes its cue from the vintage paperback — the format that put good writing in everyone's pocket. Goods for the Study, the stationery offshoot of Sarah McNally's fiercely independent McNally Jackson bookstores, launched in Nolita in 2013 with a simple premise: that the tools of writing deserve the same consideration as the books themselves. The Manifesto arrives blank, on 100gsm ivory paper, in a subtly aged cover that reads like a paperback that has earned its place on the shelf. Section-sewn so it lays completely flat.

Alexander I. ★★★★★

The vintage paperback design is such a clever nod to the format that made writing accessible to everyone, and it sits perfectly on my desk. I love how the cover texture feels like an old book you'd pick up at a flea market, and it's already sparked a few good conversations about craft.

James J. ★★★★★

It’s exactly the kind of thing that makes me want to clear off my whole desk and start over—the cover design alone feels like a tiny piece of literary history. I love that it’s sized to fit right in with my other paperbacks, so it doesn’t stick out like some fussy accessory.

The vintage paperback vibe is spot on—it’s compact enough to prop on a desk without shouting. The cover texture feels like an old book you’d find in a used shop, which is exactly what I wanted for my study.
