Category: The Desktop

From a Milanese workshop comes this steel meditation on utility. Clean lines, mindful engineering, and the quiet confidence of Italian design for your desk.

Originally designed in 1984 by Oscar Lepre, this hand-crafted Ellepi stapler emerges from a small, four-person workshop in Italy's Cologno Monzese region outside Milan. Each piece carries the honest character of artisanal production, bearing the subtle marks that distinguish authentic making from mass manufacture.

The design balances practicality with distinctive aesthetics—featuring clean square edges, an easy-push handle, and durable enamel powder-coated finish. Inspired by the graceful forms of ocean giants, the Klizia 97's whale-like silhouette brings unexpected character to your desk.

The steel construction ensures this tool performs as well as it looks, effortlessly handling up to 16 sheets while incorporating a patented anti-jamming device for reliable daily use. The Klizia 97 takes small but mighty mini staples (sometimes referred to as No. 10 staples), with packs of 1000 staples available for purchase separately.

Forty years old and still looks like it was designed yesterday—that clean Milanese shape is timeless. The steel feels solid without being obnoxiously heavy, and the action is smooth enough that I actually look forward to stapling things now.

The steel body has a heft that feels precise, not heavy, and the clean lines make it look like a small sculpture on my desk. It staples cleanly every time, and I find myself reaching for it just for the satisfying click.

Forty years on, that 1984 design still looks like it belongs on a modern desk — no wasted curves, just clean steel. The action is buttery smooth, and it’s become the one tool I actually reach for when I’m sorting papers.
