Coolicon Standard Pendant Lamp, Original Size, 9 colors

$245 ~~$490~~ In stock

First drawn for a patent application in 1933, the Standard Coolicon has spent nearly a century earning its place — on the factory floor, in the workshop, in Winston Churchill's wartime bunker kitchen. A design that needed no revision then, and needs none now.

The same 15-step wet enameling process, worked in small batches by craftspeople operating closer to a studio pottery than a manufacturer. The vented top gallery, the original innovation, still does exactly what it was designed to do: ambient light pools upward, task light falls clean below.

Available in nine colors and two sizes.
Vitreous enameled steel · Brass socket · 9" dia. × 6" H · 92" cord · E26 / 60W max · Indoor · Made in the United Kingdom

I hung the original size over my workbench and the light is incredible — bright and even, no harsh glare bouncing off the tools. The enamel finish is thick and glossy, and it feels like something that'll outlast the house.

The enamel shade throws a nice tight pool of light over my workbench, and the 1933 shape definitely looks the part. My only real gripe is the cord length—it barely reached my ceiling hook, so I had to buy an extension. For the price I expected better hardware.
