Category: The Desktop

This sculptural tape dispenser by Japanese designer Makoto Koizumi contributes beauty and function in equal measure. Minimal yet warm, ethereal yet solid, it is made of wood and Nambu cast iron, a traditional material that dates to the 17th century. The piece is so weighty it can be used one-handed—just what you need when you’re in the middle of wrapping a package.

Fits a roll of tape with a 3" core, tape width 1/2" (and up to 18mm wide) and overall tape roll diameter no larger than 4.5". See our collection of tapes here. We are the exclusive online retailer of this beautiful object in the US.

4 silicon feet on the underside prevents scratching and provides a non-slip surface

The weight of the Nambu cast iron base means I can pull a strip of tape one-handed without the whole thing sliding across my desk. It just sits there feeling solid and looks good next to my notebooks too.

The cast iron base keeps this thing planted on my desk, so I can rip a piece of tape one-handed without it sliding around. The wood top has a nice matte finish that's warm against the dark metal. It's the first desk tool I've owned that I actually leave out on purpose.

Heavier than I expected thanks to the cast iron base, so it stays put when I pull tape one-handed. The wood top has a nice matte finish and it just looks good sitting on my desk.
