The clip is one of those forms so completely resolved that the designer's only remaining job is the quality of execution. Oscar Lepre understood this when he founded Ellepi in 1977, and the workshop in Cologno Monzese — four people, same process — has been proving it ever since. Steel, hand-applied enamel powder coat, a white that sits somewhere between industrial and considered.

Three sizes cover most of what a desk produces: a single card, a folded letter, a stack of pages that has been accumulating since last week. In the kitchen they seal a bag of tea between uses, hold a recipe at eye level, keep the pantry honest. Objects this unfussy about where they work tend to migrate through a house and never come back.
