The slip-cast ceramic has a nice heft to it, so it doesn't slide around when I'm tapping ash into the tray. I've been burning incense on my desk every morning and it does exactly what it's supposed to without looking fussy.
The matte finish on this ceramic holder is what sold me — no glare, just a quiet shape that doesn't compete with the smoke. It's heavier than it looks too, so it stays put on my shelf.
