Le rouge attire d'abord le regard. Sur une forme aussi sobre — basse, cylindrique, trois ouvertures horizontales qui diffusent la lumière en douces bandes superposées sur un bureau ou une table de chevet — cette saturation devient une déclaration plutôt qu'une finition. Fabriqué à la main dans l'atelier de Misewell à Milwaukee, Wisconsin, en grès qui conserve quelque chose de la terre malgré le vernis.

Le blanc est un tout autre discours. Là où le rouge annonce, le blanc s'accumule — le vernis capte la lumière sur le rebord, les fentes projettent de douces ombres sur elles-mêmes. C'est le genre de lampe de table en céramique qui récompense une pièce déjà attentive.
