The Paperback Writers series takes its cue from the vintage paperback — the format that put good writing in everyone's pocket. Goods for the Study, the stationery offshoot of Sarah McNally's fiercely independent McNally Jackson bookstores, launched in Nolita in 2013 with a simple premise: that the tools of writing deserve the same consideration as the books themselves. The Manifesto arrives blank, on 100gsm ivory paper, in a subtly aged cover that reads like a paperback that has earned its place on the shelf. Section-sewn so it lays completely flat.

Timothy ★★★★★

The textured cover feels exactly like an old mass-market paperback, which makes it a joy to pull out of my bag at the café. I’ve already filled half the pages with morning notes and it lies perfectly flat when opened.

I’ve been using this as my daily writing companion, and the compact size really does make it easy to keep in my bag or pocket. The paper has a nice, smooth finish that takes fountain pen ink beautifully without any bleed-through.
