Pillar Storage Box Warm Grey Review: Stylish Small Space Storage for Your Desk

In the world of home organisation, finding storage that is both functional and beautiful can feel like a challenge, especially when you're working with a compact desk or a small apartment. The Pillar Storage Box: Warm Grey from Wms&Co. promises to solve this dilemma with its minimalist felt design and versatile size. After using it for several weeks, we're ready to share our honest thoughts on how it performs in real-world small space storage scenarios.

Whether you're a stationery enthusiast looking to tame a growing collection of pens and notebooks, or simply someone who wants to keep their desktop clutter-free, the Pillar Storage Box offers a quiet, elegant solution. In this review, we'll explore its design, materials, and how it compares to other compact storage options, including the Danish Storage Box Set for those needing multiple compartments.

First Impressions: Design and Material Quality

The Pillar Storage Box arrives in a simple, eco-friendly package that immediately signals its Scandinavian-inspired ethos. The Warm Grey colour is beautifully subtle—not too dark, not too light—making it an easy fit for both modern and traditional desks. The felt material is soft to the touch yet surprisingly sturdy, giving the box a premium feel without the weight of wood or metal.

Measuring just the right size for a small desk, this felt box is designed to sit unobtrusively in a corner or beside a monitor. Its cylindrical shape is a refreshing departure from the usual rectangular storage boxes, adding a gentle architectural element to your workspace. The lid fits snugly but is easy to remove, and the interior is spacious enough to hold a variety of items without feeling cramped.

• Soft felt exterior that resists scratches and scuffs
• Neutral Warm Grey colour complements most desk setups
• Lightweight yet durable construction for everyday use

Small Space Storage: Does It Deliver?

If you're living in a city apartment or working from a compact desk, every inch of space counts. The Pillar Storage Box excels in this environment because it doesn't demand a large footprint. It can comfortably hold a few notebooks, a set of pens, or even small tech accessories like cables and chargers. We tested it with a collection of Blush Jotters with Gold edging (set of 2) and a Cube Alarm Clock, and everything fit neatly without overcrowding.

For those who need to store smaller items like paper clips, rubber bands, or stamps, the box's depth is ideal. It keeps items visible and accessible, so you're not rummaging through a deep drawer. The felt material also helps protect delicate items from scratches, making it a great choice for storing a favourite Onigiri Rollerball: Raw Aluminum or other writing instruments.

• Fits easily on a 60cm wide desk without overwhelming the surface
• Interior depth accommodates items up to 12cm tall
• Can be stacked with other boxes for vertical storage

Versatility Beyond the Desk

While the Pillar Storage Box is marketed as a desk accessory, its use cases extend far beyond the office. Its warm grey hue and soft texture make it a natural fit for a bedside table, where it can hold glasses, a phone, or a small book. In a bathroom, it could store cotton balls or toiletries, and in a living room, it works as a catch-all for remote controls and coasters.

We also found it pairs beautifully with the Danish Storage Box Set for a cohesive organisation system. The felt material is easy to clean with a lint roller or a damp cloth, and the colour doesn't show dust as readily as darker shades. For anyone building a coordinated home organisation product collection, the Pillar Storage Box is a versatile foundation piece.

• Ideal for bedside, bathroom, or living room organisation
• Pairs well with other felt storage items for a unified look
• Easy to clean with minimal maintenance

Comparing the Pillar Storage Box to Other Options

When shopping for compact storage, you'll encounter a range of materials from plastic to wood. The Pillar Storage Box stands out because of its felt construction, which offers a softer, quieter experience. Unlike hard plastic boxes, it won't scratch surfaces or make noise when you set it down. Compared to wooden boxes, it's lighter and more affordable, making it a practical choice for renters or those on a budget.

However, if you need multiple compartments or a more rigid structure, the Danish Storage Box Set might be a better fit. That said, the Pillar Storage Box's simplicity is its strength—it doesn't try to do too much, and it does what it sets out to do with elegance. For small space storage, it's hard to beat the combination of form and function this box offers.

• Softer and quieter than plastic or metal alternatives
• Lighter and more affordable than wooden storage boxes
• Minimalist design that won't clash with existing decor
